I had suggested to Mort that you pod-cast a role-playing session getting both your campaign up and running and giving us a taste of everyones role-playing style.

I heard the first two and think power gaming is a choice by players and DM's.
Its a fine line between giving your players what they want and getting the experience you want as a DM in your campaign. Both parties are responsible for said experience. I started playing 22 years ago most of that time was spent DMing.

I've seen power gamers and Role players I prefer role players. Power gaming IMO should be left to video games. I like to forward the story which interests me more than rolling a 20 on a die.

Best of luck with the pod-cast and get back to gaming already.

Using my Aunt's computer -- in New Orleans -- I can only get the sound, not any picture/movie. Are these casts audio only? Confused

Argon:
You are not the only person that has suggested we record an actual play episode. I know that Jayson would be all for it, but Mort is not on board. We may do it as a bonus episode, and under-whelm everyone with our RP stylings.

Mystic:
It is audio only, so you are missing nothing.

Mortellan is not on board I thought he be chomping at the bit. Mort I'm calling you out!Evil Grin

I notice a lot of Shadowrun references in episode 3. I think of all game related novels those where the best.

On another note I'm with home bred adventures over pre-made. But as was mentioned plenty of people buy them to take ideas from them. One of the things i liked about Dungeon magazine before it went all web based only. That was my on going RPG purchases. Always preferred books to web content.

Paizo offers both options but I sort of anti adventure path as it seems to pigeon hole the whole DMing experience. Just my thoughts.

I'm listening to Episode 4 now so I leave you more feedback on it later. Continued success with the pod-cast guys.

Argon:

Mort has never been one to bow to pressure... from us. Maybe you have more pull.

As for Shadowrun novels, I totally agree. I consider Steve Kenson's novels for Shadowrun some of my favorite reads. His work on Shadowrun is what got me interested in Mutants and Masterminds.

Mystic:

Thank you.

I listened to episode 5 someone loves Star wars. All I have to say is thank you George Lucas for ruining it for me. Jar-Jar enough said.

Edition changes are always about money. Too me the biggest fix was from 1E to 2E, 3 and 3.5 pretty much the same and 4E I would of been more interested in it if they actually built a whole new pantheon instead of raping from different sources.

I'm not sure about rule wise but I understand it's more roll play instead of role play friendly. With that said I still believe players and DM's control more of this than the game system itself.

Never played warhammer since I suck at painting miniatures never got into it. Always thought the units where great but I'm rocking a -5 on my miniature painting skill.

I did not listen to the Thor bonus episode as I have yet to see it. I'll chime in later after I see the movie.

Episode 6 new players, I always look on new players as promising. Fresh meat yummy!

As a group I think that we agree that Star Wars was the most influential movie franchise of our time (episodes 4, 5 & 6).

And I think that the mystique was ruined by episodes 1, 2 & 3.

Good point about the raping of the pantheons. As a person who has spent most of his gaming life in Greyhawk, it is still sour to see the gods mixed with those of other worlds.

As for Warhammer, I do know that if I didn't get started I would have a bit more money now... and in the future.

This week's episode is where we talk (mostly) all about Greyhawk.

Mort gives some shout-outs to some Canonfire regulars and defends himself from our resident naysayers.

Sounds interesting fellas, but my computer took 10 minutes to download the first 7% of the podcast, so I gave up. I'll try again sometime with access to a better computer. Wink

BozShulun,

I have to admit when Mort first told me of your podcast I was thinking it was going to blow big meaty chucks. Instead it reminded me of discussions I use to have with my friends back in the day. Keep the podcasts coming so far I think Shadowrun has been mentioned in every episode as well as Star wars mostly by one person on the later.

So I would think one of those two should be up for debate next or like I suggested to Mort maybe one on comics like mainstream Marvel DC as opposed to independent publishers or though the decades.

Until the next podcast.

Greyhawk, Shadowrun and Star Wars are our big three games, that's why. Slowly but surely over the years we've expaded our list, but for a long time those three things are mainly all we did.

The jury is still out whether the chunks are yet to flow, but thanks for listening.

As for other topics.... not to let too much out, but we are have an entire episode coming that is devoted to a major comic event (on the horizon) and we are recording (this week) an episode just about movies... featuring Deuce and Mandy (Deuce's wife and my sister).

As for other games, I intend on showcasing other games as well. There is talk of one devoted to Warhammer 40k, as well as one where we talk about some of our lesser played games.

If there are any other topics, subjects or tangents you guys would like to hear, let us know.

Hackmaster Basic

Episode 24 is a bit different than our usual ravings, in that we come about as close to “actual play” as I think we ever will. We were given copies of Hackmaster Basic and the Hacklopedia of Beasts by Kenzer & Co. and were asked to review them on the show.

Have a listen and give us a comment.
