Excellent work Crag. In my many years of DMing I've often pondered the Southern trade routes and those nations who control it. Not until Scarlet Brotherhood was published did that knowledge expand but nothing was done about the naval tech. Few here ever touched the subject. Glad to see someone covering it now. I am also seeing in your series an opportunity to learn from your research in the event I ever cover a naval battle article. I'd be happy to consult with you in that event.

I would be honoured Mort Smile

There are some possible naval battles: OTTOH
Battle of Aerdi Sea: Sea Barons broke the Duxchan (Lordship of the Isles)
Battle of Jerlea Bay: Sea Princes defeated Keoland
Battle of Grendep Bay: Sea Barons defeated combined barbarian fleet
Battle Beneath the Waves: Komali defeat Zeif (Dramidj Ocean)

Numerous references to naval skirmishes within the Sea of Gearnat (Harby and Pomarj Slavers)

Numerous references to naval skirmishes within the Relmor Bay (Nyrond and Ahlissa)

Of course naval engagements have been given short shift within GH and actual military forces for the battles may not exist but using other sources such as ItU which do have fleet composition within them reasonable numbers could be estimated.
